Internet of things - Summer School

Smart City & IoT Security

July 10th- July 28th 2017

The Department of Electronic & Computer Engineering Summer School on the Internet of Things will take place in University of Limerick, Ireland, from July 10th to 28th, 2017. Our summer schools provide a unique opportunity for students to learn about fundamental and state-of-the-art technology and to mingle with Industry Experts.

The 2017 summer school theme this year is Smart Campus and IoT Security. The school will approach the broad field of the Internet of Things (IoT) by considering sensors, embedded systems, wireless technologies, networks and protocols, distributed computations, ubiquitous computing, interaction in smart environments, and privacy and security concepts. The students will work on one of 7 different projects, each focussing on a different Smart Campus and IoT Security application area. This includes laboratory time for practical experiments with sensor-based devices, which will be provided for each student.

The Summer School is a three-week introduction to the core technology topics needed to support the Internet of Things.  On completion, the student will be well placed to play a part in this emerging technology ecosystem. At the end of the school, each group will present their concept project and how it relates to the core IoT concepts.
